How to Fix a Dinged Up Car Door For Cheap March 24, 2008

One of the best ways to promote a business is to use your car as a billboard. Shoot, you could even promote your blog this way. You could make some
car magnets similar to the one I did (pictured above), and then when you cut someone off in traffic, you could come home and see that you’ve been cursed out in the comment section of your blog. Also, you would only have to pay $15.99 for this cursing service. That’s how much one 17.3″ x 11.25″ car magnet costs.

Of course you might have a more traditional business that you might want to promote, or maybe someone has recently keyed your car. Can you think of a cheaper way to fix a scratched or dinged up door? This is a good idea, and you read it here first! It’s a Lifehack! Another benefit to this approach is that you don’t have to spend an hour on the weekend peeling old stickers off your car. I nearly passed out from the destickerizing agent.

Here is what I am going to do. I am going to download an image of a big pink daisy. Then, I am going to upload it to VistaPrint and make one of these big door magnets. Then, when I get it in the mail, I’m going to cut out the daisy and stick it on the side of my car. How cool is that? You could do that with any picture, really, and your car would be very unique. It beats the heck out of gluing action figures to the dashboard, which is something that I used to do. Well, actually, I kinda liked those action figures.

Anyway, car magnets are cool. Go wild.

Tote Your Stuff in Style March 18, 2008

If there is one thing that teachers can’t get enough of, it’s totes. I like this one. It would hold a book, my lunch and a coke in style. Of course, I have to have more than one tote. There’s the one for the computer, one for my tutoring supplies, and one for papers to grade. Then there’s my purse, which changes according to my mood.

Sometimes I feel like a pack mule. Just because I feel like a pack mule, though, doesn’t mean I have to look like one. There’s a lot of cute
baby phat purses to choose from, and I promise you won’t ever see a mule carrying one.

Another great thing about handbags is that they are “one size fits all”. I really like shopping for them on fat days. Like when I’m really feeling like a mule. ;-)

Get 25 Magnets Totally Free! February 22, 2008

I’ve blogged about VistaPrint before, because they are my absolute favorite company to use for promotional materials. Sometimes, though, I like to think out of the box and use promo materials for other purposes. Magnets are a prime example of this. I’ve bought magnets from VistaPrint many times before. Once, I printed inspirational quotes on them and used them as a giveaway at a training. It’s fun to upload a really cool graphic and use them as fridge magnets. Since you’ll have twenty-five of them, you can give lots away. I like to randomly put one in someone’s mailbox at work now and then–everyone likes magnets, since they brighten up file cabinets!

Of course, you can actually use them as a promotional item. If you want to promote your business,
magnets are great, because they are usually placed in an area where customers see them several times a day. One thing you can do is put a calender on your magnet. By making it useful, you are guaranteeing that customers will be reminded of your business every time they want to see what day Saturday falls on. The very best thing about magnets, whether you use them as a promotional item or for fun gifts is that they are extremely affordable. Right now at VistaPrint, you can get 25 of them for the low cost of free. Here’s the promo code: Blog25FreeMag

Have fun!

Oooh La La, Check Out the Bra January 25, 2008

Are you still wondering what you should get your significant other for Valentine’s Day? Or wondering what you want for yourself? How about purchasing some truly
fine lingerie? You can definitely tell the difference between the good stuff and the cheap stuff, and a gift like this one can benefit both the giver and the receiver. I love the Conturelle Harmonie bra pictured above, because it looks very innocent, like something someone picking flowers half-dressed in the countryside might wear. You know. A girl can dream.

Here’s one that’s not quite as innocent. I like the bras featured in Bits of Lace’s
Prima Donna Bra line. Nice, right?

The thing is, if you are going to buy someone else a bra, you had better be darn sure you are buying the right size. Go look in a drawer and check out a tag! Don’t ever just guess. The results could be painful and bulgy. And if you’re a woman dropping hints, perhaps you should leave one hanging to dry for a while in the bathroom. You, know, make it easy.

Fortunately, regardless of what size bra is to be purchased, Bits of Lace has it. An added bonus is that you get free shipping on orders over $50. Since $50 is not very much to spend on the love of your life, that should not be a problem. Elegant gift wrapping is offered as well, for those who are either too busy or scissor-challenged to do it themselves.
