Out of the two contests I’ve entered in BlogLand, I’ve won only one. Today! $50 buckaroos from Chris Bloczynski dot com.
This means that now my own contest won’t cost me a cent! Yesss! I also suspect that I will be entering more of them here on out.
So, at this point, money I’ve made includes:
- Chris’s contest: $50
- Paid Review: $50
- July Sidebar Ad: $20
- Adsense: $25 (That suckifed John Cow ad has taken me down to $0.04 cents a day for about the past month. Time to optimize.)
- Dreamhost: $40 (Next July, if people renew–I’m not making a cent off of the Dreamhost Promo I’m offering at this time.)
Unsurprisingly, the Chitika ads have not earned a cent. Nor have the Commission Junction ads, even though I have Popcap games annoyingly advertised even in my email. The next thing I am going to try is Textlink Ads. I’ll keep you posted on that one. I also need to concentrate on traffic. Besides the contest, I have not made any promotional efforts lately. That, and it’s about time for another snarkalicious or sexed-up article…hmm.
As far as good ideas go, check out what Chris is saying about his next contest, in which you can win $100. Check out the brilliance:
Only subscribers to my RSS feed will see the details of the next contest, courtesy of the Feed Footer plugin, so if you want to get in on the action, make sure you keep your subscription to Chris Bloczynski dot Com!
Feed subscriptions are another area that I need to work on. Thanks for the reminder, Chris!
Subscribe to my feed so you don’t miss a beat! And so I can, um, have zillions of subscribers, thus proving to other potential publishers that (insert # of people here) don’t think my writing is absolute crap.

I’d definitely recommend text-link ads. It’s the easiest way to monetize and you don’t have to worry about getting clicks.
Hey! congratulations. I been a silent reader for a while and I am happy to read this news.
Text link ads seem like a good way to monetize, but I’m still waiting for people to buy the links. I’ve the code installed and running, but no links on there yet.
You are on the roll to be the next internet mogulati.!
TLA needs a minimum PR4 and a reasonably respectable Alexa Ranking before they approve. Even my PR5 blog haven’t been approved yet because of the “high” Alexa Ranking.
I think paid reviews is the way to go. Try Linksworth and SponsoredReviews.
Sounds like you’re doing well. Just to let you know that I had a bit of a problem trying to subscribe to this blog’s feed through bloglines. Usually I subscribe through the “Easy button” on my browser straight from the blog’s main url and it does all the work for me. But I had to click on your link for the url to the feed to subscribe. No a big problem, but it confused me for a good couple of minutes!
I’ve REALLY gotta look into making money from blogging. I just do it for the crack at the mo. Thanks for the tips!
Woooohooooooo!!! So you owe me a mango then
