It’s a Sunday night, and I’m reflecting on the success of this blog as a money-making venture thus far. I’ve made about $250 or so, which is nothing compared to the hours I’ve put into it, which I estimate at this point to be 27,374. Seriously? Probably about 450. Yikes!
On the other hand, I earned an extra $900 this month for 20 hours of after-school tutoring. It’s pretty easy to see where my time is better spent if I am only interested in the money, and I’m not even tutoring math!
On yet a third hand, I can’t imagine not writing. Unless it has become boring, of course, and then why bother?
Following that line of thought, I’ve decided to begin writing about things that I am working on in my life, and that I know many others are as well. This way, I can be interested in what I am writing–as the “making money online” subject is getting stale–at least when written about constantly.
Here’s the working schedule of posts from here on out:
Monday-Metablogging
Because it’s still my hobby, and heck, I don’t want to change the header.
Tuesday-Simplicity
I absolutely don’t have the time to be taking care of tons of stuff, cooking complicated meals, etc. This is all about making life simpler.
Wednesday-Diet/health
I still haven’t lost the 15 pounds from this summer. It is also a constant struggle to keep from going crazy. I’ll write about what does and doesn’t work. Most likely, my first Wednesday post will be entitled “10 Diet Strategies That Really Suck”.
Thursday-Making and saving money
Because figuring out new ways to make or save money is fun. More money equals more options.
Friday-A book worth reading
I can’t recall a day in my life when I have not read at least a few pages out of a book. I’ve come across some great stuff lately that I’d like to share.
Nothing on the weekend, unless I happen to feel like posting some cool stuff or doing a review.
This has to do with the not going crazy part of my plan.
Exceptions for breaking money-making news and reviews.
So, there it is.
I’d like to thank Emma at It’s Write Now for giving me a clue about how to put Amazon book links side by side in my file cabinet post. She has a great new template, which is definitely inspiring, and a bit envy-provoking over here on my end.

Good for you! Everybody needs a plan. Can’t wait to see how long it lasts
Mine usually last about as long as it takes to tell everyone what my new plans are, then they’re out the window
Congrats on the extra cash and it’ll be nice to heaar from you regularly
Looking forward to the diet one, since that’s my business (even though I’m struggling to lose the weight I put on over the summer, because I’ve been too lazy to exercise!)
Michelle you have a great writing style, freeing yourself to write about more topics, will probably make your blog more popular than ever. Thanks for the mention.
Emma
does this mean there won’t be anymore fantastic contests? I like the idea of scheduling yourself to a flexible schedule, it allows you to do what you want with an outline to follow.
I like the plan. I planned to have “regular features” but haven’t been able to pull it off. I tend to be all over the place on my blog, but then it’s a perfect reflexion of my life and hobbies that way.
Sounds like a good schedule. About 3 weeks ago I devised a blogging schedule (i.e., go to MyBlogLog visitor’s sites on Monday, write posts on Tuesday, etc.). I had it all nicely written down in my journal. Unfortunately I have no idea where I put it!
I hope you continue with your contests . . . . I was hoping for a win!
I was offered a paid blogging position on a website. the initial per post rate sounded great until I figured it out per hour considering the topics I would have to research etc…..I declined. the $ carrot is always tempting though. I often thought about ’scheduling’ posts but I tend to have commitment issues ;)…but I love all your topics. While I was losing weight I did have my “Weightloss Wednesday posts”. I’m all about simplicity….yesterday my husband came home from work with several meals from “Doing Dinner” we are thinking about using them instead of buying groceries…don’t know if you have one located where you are but they are awesome. They make your dinners for you (or you can go there and make them also) fresh and it actually works out cheaper. My goodness I am talkative this morning…I’m just excited about your new ’schedule’
Hope the teaching is going well.
How’d you get started as a tutor? I’d be real interested to find out if it’s something I can do!!
I’m trying to make more $ with my blog too. Maybe we can share tips! Uh, well I don’t know how helpful I will be, but maybe there’s something I’ve discovered that will help you and vice versa!
Cool blog BTW.
blogging is only one half of the equation if you want to make real bucks with your blog. you need market your blog and participate in other blogs etc. i’m sure you know this… just giving you a pointer.
Making a blogging schedule isn’t a bad idea. I’m glad you’re not giving up on the blog! I’d miss you.
