One of the other teachers, who is a control freak, came to my room this afternoon to take the kids who are “walkers” outside at the end of the day. As if they can’t walk by themselves. Anyway, he started grouching at them and one of my kids grouched back. The teacher said something (I don’t know what), and the kid left campus. So then the Control Freak Teacher comes into my room and asks me to call the cops on the kid for leaving campus!

Of course I refused. That is ridiculous. It was the end of the day. That teacher just kept on and kept on–telling me how he was going to punish this kid on Monday. I had a guest speaker in the room at the time, and he was appalled. The other students were appalled. It was a sucky way to end a Friday. The guest speaker is going to register his concern with my principal, who will probably not be surprised.

I will not run my alternative classroom like a prison. Aughhhh. This has just been one of those days. Why do we have to treat kids like crap to try to get control of them? It doesn’t work.

Kids leaving school at the end of the day… I don’t see anything wrong with that.

Michelle - that is terrible. When I was in nursing some people went into it just so they could have power over the vulnerable; so I guess teaching is the same.

Pearl, it takes some time for RSS feeds to propagate. That’s why it thought the older post was the newest post.
